During the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games, Foss won the Olympic gold medal and established a new world record with a height of 4.09 metres.


Pole vaulting is already a daring sport by definition. For the pioneers of the sport in the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games, that was even clearer.

The American athlete Frank Foss was one of those pioneers who vaulted over the marks with nothing to land on but a sandbox similar to what is used in the long jump.
